With the new moon in Capricorn starting our year with clarity and intention, I wanted to also offer a few themes I’m seeing for the year ahead.
All of the astrologers are in agreement that this year is a powerful year for transformation. Most of the astrologers that I’m seeing posting are posting about the dramatic effects on world events. Hopefully this will provide a little bit of different information for you to add to your astrology knowledge for the year.
For those of you who have been doing chart work with me this month you know that I have a few main themes that I am talking about this year.
Theme 1: What is going on in the external charts is very different than what is going on in personal charts this year. What I mean by that is what is going on in the world chart – with war, financial changes in the world, etc.- does not reflect what is going on in personal charts. In over 30 years of assessing astrology charts, I have never seen this be so dramatic and it is causing me to remind people over and over again to stop watching the news and focus on themselves so that they can take full advantage of all of the opportunities this year.
It is a powerful year for transformation on a personal level and it is important to stay focused on what you were trying to manifest and change. I am not saying to ignore what is going on in the world. Compassion and empathy for all people are going through is part of what is the human experience.
That said what is playing out in the world stage has been years in the making and will blow up regardless of what you on the individual level are doing. Some people’s charts are crossing over with some of the world events in ways that are pushing them towards humanitarian efforts and if that is your chart, I honor your journey and thank you for taking the steps to assist others.
Other people are only feeling the effects on the emotional level because they are trapped in constantly watching the news. If you feel helpless watching the news and are not feeling drawn to make a change, then it is likely that your chart is not focused on taking part in the world events right now, but on your own evolution. Listen to your heart and your journey right now and don’t allow yourself to get caught up in events that you have no control over. Say prayers for those affected, give to causes you believe in, tell those in your circle you love them, remember your own blessings daily and turn off the news media. It helps no one to lose your attention to news purposely created to cause you anxiety instead of prompting you to take actions that help people.
Theme 2: Change is fast this year for many charts. What this means is what you will look like at the end of cycles may be very different than what you started with, and it can be disconcerting for some people. If you try to hold onto what was to tightly, it’s not going to work like it used to.
What I mean is in the past you could try to hold onto things and then just miss an opportunity and continue on. Sometimes the opportunity would return in a different way and sometimes it would go away and you would end up on a new path.
That’s not the type of energy I’m seeing this year.
There is a lot of energy around transformation that will happen whether or not you feel ready for it. It’s not that things are going to happen that are bad. It’s that you won’t have so much time to go back-and-forth before a change occurs. Hemming and hawing is a thing of the past. As a Taurus sun (in western astrology) myself who can sometimes dig her heels in and wait too long to make a change, I see this as a very good thing. It might be unsettling at first, and once you realize how much the universe is trying to give you it’s going to be an amazing year. Your superpower this year will be your intuition and choosing to go with what you know to be true in your heart instead of wasting time overthinking. We are all being encouraged to find a faster flow right now and tap into our deeper knowing. Let it be 🙂
Theme 3: Taking care of yourself first is a major theme this year. I’ve never seen this type of self-determination and self-efficacy illuminated so clearly in so many charts. Healthy selfishness is definitely a theme and I’m LOVING this! ‘Putting your mask on first’ is going to be more normalized and you will feel it resounding in your life in ways you never expected and never felt before. Reflect on it when it happens because it’s teaching you something.
This is not in any way something to feel guilty about. Too many of us have spent our lives taken care of others and not taking care of ourselves. Taking care of ourselves and that personal responsibility is part of what allows us to have healthy relationships. You’re going to see other others taking care of themselves in ways you never expected and you’re going to feel yourself naturally doing the same.
For empaths and those who have always tended to take care of everyone else first this is going to be an odd transition at times and a very empowering one. Honor this, it’s important for our evolution that we all learn to take care of ourselves instead of expecting others to take care of us.
I believe the more we do this on the individual level, the more outer world will change as we’ve given too much power away by expecting other people (for example, those in political office) to do things for us, expecting they have our best interest at heart. We are in a time now of jumping in and taking more action in our lives.
As an aside, this energy is part of what is pushing a lot of people toward taking political offices, who had never thought about it before. If you are in fact called this, you will be supported by this energy.
Theme 4: Community – I’m going to wait and talk about this one more in February.
And now for the new moon in Capricorn. I have a post with more and a practice here.
I absolutely love this moon for manifesting and getting clear on what we desire for our lives in the year and years ahead. For many charts, this new moon is clarity, vision, purpose, action.
For some charts, this is also a deep introspection time to look at what’s working for you and what’s not. If you have not been self-focused for a while, this moon can catapult you forward quickly into seeing what you truly want and embodied self-care.
The clarity provided by this new moon is strong and I would encourage you, in addition to the practice provided above, to journal all this coming week and the weeks ahead.
Wishing you a beautiful new moon and year ahead. I’ll post when I can on what is occurring and what is to come.
Many blessings,
Satya
