With so many traveling and trying to see people right now, it’s important to know your options for getting tested.

I’ve gone through the different types of tests in videos/posts prior.  Now there are what are called the ‘quick or rapid tests’ these 15 min tests provide information for you quickly for pre-travel (check and ensure your travel requirements ok the quick tests, most do) and post travel covid information.

Often there are two tests available, the antigen and the PCR 15 min tests.

The PCR rapid test is the one you want if you are concerned for travel and it has shown a higher accuracy rate for current infection.  Especially if you are having any symptoms, do the PCR rapid test.

The antigen tests are usually not as accurate as the PCR tests.  They are cheaper and easier to do so they are also being made available.

Antibody tests are not considered tests for active infections so do not do these if you need to know if you are currently active with infection.

Bottom line: If you need a 15 min test or same day test, you can likely find one in most urban areas now in the US.  Choose the PCR test or the Molecular Abbott NOW test, not the Antigen test for travel/accuracy measures.

Side note: the PCR test is often covered by your insurance, the antigen test may not be.

Hope this helps! Blessings and good health, Satya
